NFPA 1802, the standard on firefighter radios, was updated this year based on recommendations from firefighter injury and LODD reports for radio and speaker microphones.
Griffis, with the new XL Extreme radio in-hand, reviews the new features of the high-tech radio, buttons and knobs that are easier for firefighters to use with gloved hands, larger and color-coded displays, and improved safety for high heat, water and drop scenarios.
